Harvesting Eelgrass at Stage 4 for a Greener Tomorrow
During my time at FHL, I was able to conduct SCUBA-based underwater research, collecting over 500 samples of Zostera Marina to analyze flowering stages, rates, ecological health and restoration strategies.
With my team, we planned research data collection protocols including transect surveys and sample analysis, to evaluate flowering and future restoration efforts and formulated data analysis by using R. A special thank you goes to dive officer Pema Kitaeff and project manager Mitch McCloskey.

With my team and professor Rabi Yusuna, we designed a meta-analysis of 25 selected scientific articles to create a logic model analyzing the impact of the "Protecting the Children’s Bodies Act" (a bill restricting gender-affirming care). This project was presented at the Undergraduate Research Symposium at UW, completing over 3 hours of public speaking.

In Italy field research focused on the behavioral ecology of bottlenose dolphin populations in the Mediterranean, assessing the impact of tourism on marine ecosystems of Alghero.
I was able to monitor and analyze soundscapes and noise pollution, contributing to long-term ecological data sets by using ArcGIS, MaxEnt, data collected through underwater visual census, cataloging fin-IDs, and hydrophones.

My internship took place in the Biggins Lab, at the FH Basic Science Division Laboratories. With Daniel Barrero we prepared over 200 samples for electron microscopy analysis on yeast samples to investigate kinetochore architecture, enhancing structural biology research. I was taught protein purification, analysis and microscopy techniques. Plus, maintenance of laboratory equipment. At the end I was able to collect and analyze our findings by compiling data using Igor Software Pro and statistical analysis.
